Speech and Language Therapy for Individuals and Families
Every person's experience is different, which is why there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.
Communication changes following a brain injury, stroke or other neurological condition can affect many areas of life. Conversations may feel different, relationships may change, and activities that once felt easy may require more thought and planning.
I understand that communication is about much more than words. It is about connecting with the people around you, expressing yourself, being understood and taking part in the things that matter most.
Together, we will explore your strengths, understand the changes you are experiencing and develop practical strategies that support communication, confidence and independence in everyday life.
Assessment and Therapy
Assessment is an important part of understanding how communication has changed and what this means for you. I take time to understand your story, your goals and the situations where communication feels more difficult.
Therapy is personalised around what matters most to you. This may include developing strategies for conversations, returning to work, rebuilding confidence in social situations, supporting relationships or finding new ways to communicate when things feel different.
Sessions can focus on developing skills, learning strategies, building awareness or exploring different approaches that make communication easier and more successful.
Working with Families and Communication Partners
Communication changes affect everyone around the person, not just the individual. Family members and friends often want to know how best to support conversations, reduce frustration and stay connected.
I provide education and conversation partner training to help communication partners understand the changes that have happened and learn practical strategies to support successful conversations.
The aim is not to take over communication, but to create opportunities for more confident, meaningful conversations together.
"Emma is really easy to work with. She listens carefully to the issues and often comes up with new and unique ways of addressing them."

My Approach
Every person I work with has a different story, so therapy is never one-size-fits-all.
I combine evidence-based therapy with creativity and practical problem-solving. I enjoy finding approaches that fit naturally into someone's life, whether that involves personalised resources, technology, hobbies, work, community activities or everyday conversations.
Most importantly, I take time to listen. Understanding what matters to you is the starting point for meaningful therapy.
